Join artist and naturalist Betsy Bangley for an introduction to keeping a nature journal. No drawing experience is required. Learn techniques for recording what you see in nature and discover the self-care benefits of keeping a nature journal. We will begin indoors with inspiration and an introduction to techniques, then go outdoors to explore and create! All materials are provided. Please dress for the weather.

Medicare 101- Washington County

Consumer advocates note that Medicare eligible people get a much better deal if they know the facts. Learn about the Medicare and Medicare Advantage programs, supplement plans, and how to choose the correct Medicare plan. Topics include the four parts of Medicare (Parts A-D); enrollment periods and how to enroll, the most recent Medicare updates; eligibility requirements for the Medicare Extra Help Program; and community resources available to Medicare eligible. This course will help participants currently receiving Medicare as well as those preparing for the future. We are offering two sessions to accommodate expected enrollment. You only need to register for one.

Boaters Safety Course (PA Fish and Boat Commission)-Washington County

Boating Safety Education Certificates are required for all operators of personal watercraft, regardless of age, and for boat operators born on or after January 1, 1982 that operate motorboats of more than 25 horsepower. Students who successfully complete this course may apply for a Boating Safety Education Certificate issued by the Commission. To receive a Boating Safety Education Certificate, the student must send a check or money order for $10.00 to the Commission

 

-The PA Fish & Boat Commission’s PA Basic Boating Course was developed to supply boaters with practical information so they can make better informed decisions on the water. Instructors provide students with information to help them reduce the risk of injury and conflict on the water.

-This course presents information on boating and water safety and contains six chapters followed by a 50-question multiple-choice test. A passing grade of 80% must be achieved. Instructors provide course materials to the students.

First Year Beekeeping-Washington County

This is a classroom-based course offering an introduction to honeybee biology and basic approaches to beekeeping. This course will include an overview of honeybee biology and the basic equipment and techniques necessary to be a successful beekeeper. The goal is for students to learn how to keep bees for the first year. Country Barn Farm offers all the beekeeping equipment you need to get started. This eight-week, accelerated program includes extensive instruction and hands on training in Microsoft Windows/Keyboarding, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook.

The certificate program will be ideal for adults/dislocated workers who are changing career fields, seeking formal/fast-track training in the Microsoft Office suite, seeking an office/administrative assistant position, pursuing a secretarial update or advancement, or requiring current computer skills to complement existing experience.
